The Psychiatric Ward of Santa Casa de Aparecida was opened in 2013, following the model of the Intensive Care Center for Mental Health (PAI), designed by the State Department of Health of São Paulo to offer short-term hospitalization to individuals with severe mental disorders in acute crisis.

Since then, the unit has been a reference in psychiatry for the region, with a multidisciplinary team composed of psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, nurses, nursing technicians, nutritionists and a security team.

The goal is to provide humane and effective treatment, aiming at the social reintegration of patients. The therapeutic project includes intensive and transdisciplinary actions, focusing on the involvement of the patient, family and community.
